I thought love was more or less a GIVEAWAY thing....

Yes indeed, you read that right. I've decided to have my first giveaway!

Now you won't read anything I say before I show you these pictures , so here they are:

A homemade necklace and bracelet

I crocheted (or rather tatted I suppose...the definition of that has never been clear to me) something like the necklace, but in white, for my friend Mel styled after an Etsy shop she loved, and was so pleased with the results that I thought of sharing something similar with you all.

Not this one specifically, cause I've already tailored it to fit me, but one just like this. And since I'll be making it for one winner specifically I'll be able to ask the person who wins:

1. White or black
2. bracelet or anklet
2. any measurement specifications she'd like to give

I read somewhere once that you need to have fifty followers to make a giveaway "worth it." Worth what, I 'd like to know? I'm poo-pooing that silly idea.

Of course giveaways usually attract new followers, whom I will welcome with open arms if they come. But I also especially I want this giveaway to be a thank you to everyone (or well, one of you) who has followed and interacted and made this blog thing so darn fun.

So here's how you can enter:

1) Become a follower (and better you tell me and introduce yourself to be sure I get it.)

2) Leave me a comment here telling me a dream you have that will probably never happen but you hold onto anyway. (Saying "Winning this giveaway!" will get you negative entries...)

3) Have already left me a comment on one of my last three blog entries. (Hey, I warned you. And I can tell when comments are written...so don't even try it.)

Anticipated questions:

The giveaway IS going to a follower. You must be a follower to do the last two options.

Yes, you can do more that one of these three options, if possible.

Knowing me in person doesn't disqualify you, but some of you might have better luck letting me know you like them and then waiting for a birthday to roll around...

I'm so sorry to my few male followers that this is so feminine! Gift for a mother/sister/friend/girlfriend?

I will announce the winner next Wednesday the 19th!

Entries open until Tuesday night.

Thank you all my dear readers!

  1. Dani - how perfectly lovely - you have many talents! My unfulfilled dream has been the same for many years...I want to be thin and have a french braid. Just a couple simple ideals...

I try to comment on all of your posts but not sure I've succeeded of late.

A great idea...maybe my dream is to have50 followers so I can have a giveaway!!! Pick either dream - neither will happen. (sob!)

  3. You figured out the bracelet! Yay... well, I will be super offended if I don't win. I mean, you know how badly I need a necklace and bracelet.

Anyway, as usual, I love your blog. And it was really wonderful to talk to you today.

  4. LOVE the concept. and the necklace and that I qualify! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! hehe. I like how blogging can let strangers into our lives in such an awesome way, giving them a glimpse of what we are in our minds!
A dream that I hold onto knowing that it wont happen anyway? Well, my most desperate dream is look drop-dead gorgeous in a way that is striking. I know its not happening, but I still fantasize. Not original, but its my most desperate dream coz I know it'll never come true :) Whats yours?

  6. Gorgeous necklace & bracelet. They look very Victorian to me. The color makes me think of the "mourning" jewelry that they had then. It was made out of a loved ones hair. This brown/black yarn is just the right color for that : ) Beautiful!

  7. That is amazing! Like LadyCat said, it looks victorian to me and that is something I love! I'm about to "get my follow" on!

  8. Gorgeous accessories... such talent.

My dreams mirror my regrets, all those things that I thought I'd eventually get to but haven't: speaking French fluently, playing piano perfectly, writing a book. There's a certain tempo of which I've never quite been able to keep pace - like I've no internal metronome. So the Great dream, the big one, is that I cease to fear the rhythms, the sounds and silences that have always so perplexed me (and maybe write the damn book).

    (Like that will ever happen.)

  9. Hey guys! I love that you love it!

AND there are specifications to these comments!
    HAVE YOU NO DREAMS?

Ok, it's corny, and just for fun, and I'm not going to be a stickler about it if you left a different comment. But c'mon, why not?

Mine: Marry a man with a European accent. Preferably Italian.

  11. I'm so impressed with your handy work! What a lovely necklace and bracelet!
Alrighty, my unfulfilled dream (which I really, really hope I accomplish one day) is to own my own coffee/bake shop with my sister.
After I read this post of yours, I started wracking my brain to remember if I had commented on your last three posts. I can't remember if I did or not, but I do try to leave a comment every time! : )

  14. That is such a beautiful necklace! I'm not going to enter, because I am allergic to metal, so it would be a waste to give it to someone who can't wear it- but I'll tell you a dream- Country western with the Berenstain Bears. Dreamed it a few days ago. Strangest experience ever.

  16. P.S Try to ignore the fact that my face of 'awe' looks like a face of 'horror'. It's a face of 'awe' gosh darn it!

  17. Wow! That's fantastic!

I am a slut for giveaways, but I want you to know that is NOT why I read and comment on your blog.

Dream #1: I am going to write, and have published, the next Great American Novel. It WILL happen. I just hope it doesn't happen posthumously, because I would like to be able to bask in the fame and wealth while breathing.

Dream #2: I would also like to have minions. Plural. However, I would happily settle for only one minion - if he were Scottish. And David Tennant.

  18. I love Giveaways even if I never win...but I do have a birthday coming up...number of years is a secret...

My Dream--To have an auction hunter business. Ever watched that show? It's awesome. And along with that to have a furniture repurposing business...furniture I've rescued from other people's trash or gotten cheap, cheap at a garage sale and turned into something awesome.

As far as becoming a follower, I still have to figure out how to do that. However I do read your blogs...at least when you put a post on fb that a new one is up.

  19. That turned out really nice!!! I'm so proud of my sister ^_^

  20. Dani - That's such beautiful work.

I skip from one dream to the next - some seem possible others not. The one that could be attainable is the walking one. I'd like to go and cover some ground in Patagonia. Or India. Both even.
